Acer BIOS password recovery, by model number
Turn the laptop over. The model number on the label looks like PH16-71 or AN515-58. Find yours below to see whether we can help and what it costs.
Found your model? Start recovery.
Why the number and not the name. Acer sells the same marketing name with different hardware inside. A Nitro 16 is an AN16-51, which we can work on, or an AN16-41, which is AMD and which we refuse at any price. No model number in the research behind this page shipped as both Intel and AMD, which is why the number is trustworthy and the name is not.
Find your processor first
Press the Windows key, type About, open About your PC and read the Processor line.
- Core Ultra: the Core Ultra tier below.
- Otherwise the first two digits of the model number are the generation:
i7-13700HXis 13th,i7-1165G7is 11th. - AMD, Ryzen or Athlon: refused, at any price.
The model line (Predator, Nitro, Aspire, Swift, TravelMate) does not change the answer. The processor generation does.
Covered: $70 with a proof of purchase, $120 without
Intel Core 12th, 13th and 14th generation. Usually done inside 24 hours. Two of these have been recovered and confirmed; the rest share the platform generation, which is the thing that actually decides it, and are marked as inferred until a capture from one reaches us. How sure we are explains each grade.

Core Ultra: $150 with a proof of purchase, $200 without
Taken on like any other job, at a higher price and up to 72 hours. Core Ultra is a different processor family from Core i7, not a newer version of one, so a brand-new machine sits further from the cheap tier rather than closer to it. None has been through the whole process here yet.

11th generation and older: $100 with a proof of purchase, $150 without
Also taken on, also up to 72 hours. Older machines need more work per model before an attempt can be made, which is what the price and the wait cover. Many machines this old show a code on the screen instead of writing a file, and if yours does, stop here: the free unlocker answers it in seconds and costs nothing.

These need the report before anyone can say
One model number, two different machines inside. Either Acer shipped both an Intel and an AMD build, or the same number spans the edge of the covered window. We will not guess on your behalf, because guessing here means quoting you a price for a job that cannot be done. The report from our tool settles it, at no charge.

Extensa 15 | Spans three families, 15W and 45W. Some configurations are 13th gen H and covered; others are not. The full model string decides it. |

Aspire and TravelMate | Straddle the edge of the covered window. Both a covered and an uncovered configuration ship under these. Send the report from our tool rather than guessing. |

Nitro V, Aspire, TravelMate, Extensa | Core 5 120U, Core 7 150U, Core 5 210H, Core 7 240H. Intel renamed this band away from a generation number. It is not Core Ultra and not a numbered generation, so the report from our tool is the only honest answer. |

Every Acer Chromebook | Different firmware entirely. Chromebooks do not run the firmware this method reads. MrChromebox is where to look, not here. |
- AMD laptops. The step that reads the machine is Intel only. No AMD version is coming.
- Acer Chromebooks. Different firmware. The community project MrChromebox is the place to look.
- Acer desktops (Predator Orion, Nitro N50, Veriton, Aspire TC). Different firmware; this is laptops only.
- Not running Windows, or no administrator account. The tool is a Windows program. The password lives in firmware, so installing Windows would bring the machine back in scope, but that is your call.
- Windows will not start. There is nothing to run the tool on. A BIOS password normally blocks only the F2 screen, so if Windows will not start for another reason, tell us what happens.
Older Acers that show an 8 or 10 digit code on screen are not refused: they need no service at all. The free unlocker answers them in seconds.
How sure we are
A result we have produced ourselves does not read the same as one we expect. Every class of machine we have an answer for, and how strong that answer is.
Recovered by us on that exact machine and typed in successfully at its own password prompt, more than once, including a blind test with the password withheld from the person doing the recovery. One machine is in this grade.
Not our own result. Either someone unconnected to us described the same thing on that board, or our free generator has been checked against a separate implementation of the same old scheme, written by someone else. How strong that check is varies by row, and the note in each row says so: some rest on two independent authors, some on one, and on two formats the usual reference is itself wrong and we deliberately do not match it.
Same platform generation as a verified machine, which is the thing that actually decides it. That is a reasonable prior rather than evidence, and most enquiries land here. We expect it to work and will not pretend it is proven until a file from such a machine reaches us. You pay nothing if it does not.
Taken on and quoted like any other job, but no machine of this class has been through the whole process here yet. They need more work per machine, which is what the higher price and the longer wait cover. Not a refusal, and not a queue you are waiting in.
Refused, at any price. Sending a report will not change the answer, though you are welcome to if you would rather hear it from us.

| Acer | Other Intel Core 12th, 13th or 14th generation laptops (Predator, Nitro, Aspire, Swift, TravelMate and the rest) Same platform generation as the two machines above, which is what actually decides it. Expected to work; not personally verified until a capture from one reaches us. $70 with proof of purchase, $120 without, usually within 24 hours. |
code.txt | paid | inferred |
| Acer | Intel Core Ultra (any) A different processor family from Core i7, not a newer version of it. A brand-new Core Ultra machine sits further from the cheap tier, not closer. Needs more work per machine before it can be attempted, which the price and longer wait reflect: $150 with proof of purchase, $200 without, up to 72 hours. |
code.txt | paid | served |
| Acer | Intel Core 11th generation and older Older machines need more work per model before an attempt, which the price and longer wait reflect: $100 with proof of purchase, $150 without, up to 72 hours. |

| Acer and other InsydeH2O vendors | Older laptops that show an 8 or 10 digit code on screen at the password prompt Free generators already solve these instantly. Sending us a file for one costs an evening and gives us nothing to act on. |
8 or 10-digit code on screen | Open the free unlocker | corroborated |
| Acer | Any AMD (Ryzen, Athlon) laptop The step that reads the machine is Intel only. Not a coverage gap: there is no way in from software you run yourself, so there is nothing to attempt, not slowly and not expensively, at any price. |

| Samsung | Samsung laptops showing a 12 to 18 character hex code, or a 44 character one | hex backdoor code | Open the free unlocker | corroborated |
| Dell (older models) | Dell laptops using the old 11-character hard-drive-serial backdoor Dell's newer service-tag scheme (595B, D35B and the rest) is not covered yet. This one is also our thinnest evidence: the only second implementation of it reads uninitialised memory and returns a different answer every run, so it is checked against one author's code rather than two. |
